Cast off

He is a free boy! After a month since the accident on 29/8 and 3 weeks in an arm cast, Jay has his cast removed this morning. He couldn't be more than happy, and so are we.

The doctor used a machine that look like a mini chain saw to cut the outer part of the cast. Then after about 5 minutes in the treatment room, doctor peeled off the cast and washed his right arm. Done!

However Jay need to get used to his bend arm for few days before he can move and straighten it. Been in that bend position for few weeks so it takes time. Hand is dry so I need to put moisturiser on it. Jay needs to do exercise to get the feel of his arm again.
My strong boy

Hope he learns his lesson and be more careful when playing.

Kor kor is 5!

Jay, our 2nd child is 5 years old today! Big boy already. And he is a proud kor kor of Jamie.

Glad both of them develop a good brotherly love and although Jay can be jealous and possessive, we know he cares for Jamie.

Jay is a slow learner, maybe because he is active and playful. He just loves to play and lazy to learn books. But Jay is very intelligent in his own way. He is more of a practical person; see and learn. He is surprisingly good in Maths. He knows how to add and minus from 0 to 30.

We starting to teach him to save money. He has his own made piggy bank at home. Whenever he found coins, he will takes and keeps in his piggy. And some times we give him money for rewards when he is behaving well.

He can be a nuisance because he does not listen to you and have his own attitude. A very stubborn boy. But someday he can be lovey-dovey and ask to be hugged and kissed.
Birthday cake for a family celebration at home

Cupcakes for every friends and teachers in his kinddy

As for his special day, I ordered a spongebob cake as it is currently his favourite cartoon show and cupcakes for sharing with his classmates. His first celebration in school. Last year, we just moved to Sibu and I were heavily pregnant so did not bring anything to school.

Hand-wrapped goodies for the children

The children sang birthday song thrice in three different languages

The happiest boy in the class today is blowing his candles!

What a happy birthday boy! Happy 5th birthday, big kor kor!

Music & Cast

Jan has her Grade 1 piano exam in RH Hotel yesterday afternoon. I brought her there myself. At first she was not nervous but when it was her time, she started to panic a bit. But glad she went into the exam room and did her thing.

I could not see or hear what transcripted in the room but at last she did her best. An British examiner was present to test the candidates one by one.

Slightly more than 10 minutes, Jan was out from the room. Hope she passes her grade 1 then daddy promised to buy her a piano.

Today, after 2 weeks on cast, I brought Jay back to clinic. Supposed to take off his cast today but doctor thought otherwise.

The bone heals well so nothing to worry about. However doctor gave another 1 week for proper healing as worry he will get hurt. A precaution he said. You know, Jay is too active. So, another week of wrapping his cast with plastic bags when shower, another week in sling and another week of helping him in school works. And he would be the birthday boy with an arm cast next week too!

Have a great weekend, guys!

Older and more

My girl has grown up to be a beautiful young lady. She is 8 years old now. A little like mini-me; has my personality and traits. Sometimes I see me in her. Like looking at yourself in the mirror.

Today, after picking her up from school, she told me that she and a classmate are going to communicate over phone later. They set a time and when her friend did not call, Jan call her instead. Gosh! They talked over the phone over homework.

Just could not help but giggle looking at her talking over the phone. My eldest is growing and few years down the road, she is going through her teen.

Little fella at 11th month

Wow, Jamie is 11 months old and how fast you have grown! I spent time reminiscing your early day and looking through your baby photographs. My youngest child is going to be a 1-year old toddler next month!! And I made a promise to you to record your development every month till you are 1 year old as I did not do so for your older siblings.

You are no longer like to sit still in the baby chair. You will just zoom in the walker around the house or crawl on 4, climbing on bed, exploring new corners. Nothing can escape your exploring hands. You just grab anything that you can find on your path. You are also taking small walking steps with support. Not strong enough to walk on your own.

Your favourite toy is cars. You love to play with them and I am getting your brother to share some of his cars with you. It is not an easy job but you both have to learn to share.  Of course you also enjoy disturbing the remote controls and mobile phones too.

Fruits are your favourite such as dragon fruits, oranges and kiwis. You prefer those softer flesh than apples. Mealtimes are your favourite thing to do. You can eat a lot of cereal or porridge mixed with Marmite! Your porridge varies every day with sweet potatoes, minced meat, chicken and frog legs and vegetables.

You currently have 4 (3 on the lower gum) teeth to enjoy those yummy food. Love those cute teeth when you show them. Teething can be a pain for you sometimes as you will have fever and flu any other months.

Thank god your dry skin problem is getting better now. But we must make sure we rub lotion on your skin every day to prevent dryness and itchiness.

Naptimes and bedtimes are established now. You must sleep at certain times otherwise you are one cranky baby and no one and nothing can soothe you. Every morning you will wake us up with your chatter. You love to chat and now slowly forming words by follow us.

You have a beautiful laugh. And everytime you smile, your little dimple will show up. Love to hear you cooing and chattering. They are like music to our ears. We love your big round eyes. We love you more and more each day. You are the cutest baby in our eyes.

2nd time this week

(Just out from OT and now in the men' ward as I were writing this post)

Jay was admitted again today! His elbow did not healed properly as he did not want to rest his elbow at home. Talking about hyper-active, Jay can be a great example of hyper-active boy.

His elbow bone needed to be re-aligned and this time doctor put cement bandage on him to
prevent the same problem. After more than 20 minutes in the OT, he has his cast done.

This time I were well prepared, ready his drink and food; and some toys to keep him entertained after the operation. The bandage will stay for the next 2 weeks.

It is a bearable stay in hospital this round. Jay must be exhausted that he is sleeping for few hours. And I get to read my novel too while waiting for discharge.

Half day spent in hospital

Jay has a fall last Tuesday when we went to Raya visiting. He hurt his right arm.  He was so in pain that he fall asleep in the car; and when he woke up, he immediately asked to be taken to doctor.  Immediately Big J brought him to x-ray and after all the wailing and crying, the x-ray turned out good.  All bones are in the right position and no broken bones or dislocation.

So he was on the arm support cloth, but on and off he took it off because he disliked it.  Felt like been retained. After few days, he can move his hand and arm.  However on Friday, we noticed that his elbow area swollen and he cannot move the joint.  Even after rubbing some oilment, his swell did not subdued much and he still feel the pain at that area.  So yesterday morning, I decided to bring him to the orthopaedic (bone) specialist.

He was still in his cheeky self and even raise his right arm for me

At first glance the doctor told us the bones look alright but to be more confirmed, he suggested for an elbow x-ray.  The previous one only shown the hand right up to elbow, did not really concentrate on the elbow.  So this time, he was been examined on the elbow.

Ended up one of the elbow bones was dislocated, so it caused swell and pain.  Immediately doctor admitted us to the hospital so he could readjusted his bone without further delay. So we were admitted around 10am and around 1030am, Jay was brought into the operation theatre for the minor adjustment.  Less than 10 minutes, he was done.
Changed into the ward clothing

Waiting time

Time to go in

I was allowed to accompany him inside for a while.  So he has a bit of struggle when he was put to sleep and after that I was to stay outside waiting.  Once done, I was allowed to stay with him till he was awake.  And oh boy, hell broke loose.  He was crying, and kicking; much to my dismay.  But he must be in such agony and pain that he behaved in that way.  So I wheeled him back to his ward to rest but he was restless and inconsolable.  He wanted to change to his own clothes and go home!

After more than 30 minutes, he was calmed down and then he started to feel better.  Probably he knew he would not be going home soon.  So after a while, he rested with the sling wrap on his hand.  But it was not long when he started to be restless and cheeky again.  Playing, walking on bed and making noises in the ward.
We were in the hospital for more than 4 hours and only around 3pm we were discharged.  Waiting for the insurance claim procedures and the hospital allowed to discharge us.

Jay to rest for another day and his elbow would be fine tomorrow.  Then he can go back to his school on Thursday.
