First visit to dentist

He complained of teeth ache yesterday. Then it was alright but Jay complained it was painful this afternoon.

A visit of dentist has been long overdue. So for the first time, Jay went to a dentist this afternoon.

Nervous and curious at the same time. But in the end after checking, dentist prescribed gel to put on his gum. No filling or pulling needed.

It dropped!!

Jay's baby tooth was shaking for few weeks. His first shaking tooth waiting to be dropped off.

And today in school, his baby tooth dropped off while he was eating.

And how happy was he to show me his toothless smile and his 1st baby tooth. Big boy already.

He goes to canteen

I were surprised when Jay asked pocket money from me this week. I prepared his snack box so he would not be acquiring anything but he has been insisting on money. Anyway, I gave him RM2 last night.

I knew he has been eating in canteen during recess as his sister went down to his classroom looked for him few times and spotted him in canteen with his classmates.

This morning both sister and brother agreed to meet up and eat together in canteen during recess time. It would take Jan few minutes to go down from the very top floor to the canteen so Jay would be at the canteen earlier than her.

So, when Jan reached canteen, she saw Jay with a packet of noodle, sitting on the bench waiting for her. He bought his 1st food from canteen! His 1st purchase, using money to pay for something all by himself.

I am proud of him. Make me want to shed tears. Lol.

Back to school

The kids are back to school and 1st week of school has just over!!!

Jay on his 1st day of school with Jan. Both looked happy to go to school.

Jay in his Primary 1 class. By then he looked anxious but fortunately his young class lady teacher is good so he did not complained much for the time being.

Still on orientation so Jay would not be studying his textbooks and having homeworks for the 1st 3 weeks.

As for Jan, she would be busier as ever as she is entering P4. Been chosen to be class monitor this year and there would be extra-curriculum in the afternoon. She is planning to join Girl's Brigade.

So, happy schooling!

Another 4-eyed

As expected and unavoidable, we finally managed to get Jay to wear glasses!

This time he was more ready than early this year. After trying almost all the frames in the outlet, he finally chosen his own frame and in 30 minutes time, he was ready to wear it.

The sis told him he looks like a young professor. Lol.

He is 6!

My oh my! My 2nd child is turning 6 today. And soon he will be going through few important milestones as a young child.

In few months time, he will be entering Primary One. And soon one and few baby teeth will drop and new one grow.

He is more independent coming this year. He takes his own bath, brush his teeth and arrange his clothing. Sometimes if he is in good mood, he will make his bed.

He is a playful, curious and smart boy. He can be stubborn and disobedient some day but once in blue moon, he loves to cuddle and smitten with you. Like asking for attention when he feels like no one paying attention to him. Maybe being a 2nd child, he tends to be more sensitive and want to be feel wanted and loved by us.

He loves to disturb his sister and most of the times, they argue but they get along the next minute. Jay is closer to Jan than Jamie but we know that Jay loves Jamie too. The little one tends to follow what Jay does and have.

Jay is a simple boy who loves to play, express himself and enjoy simple things. He loves to eat noodles and drink chrysanthemum tea. He loves to play with water and did not mind to get dirty and rough.

Wish Jay a Happy 6th Birrthday. Mummy, daddy, jie jie and di di love you always.

He got it

While Jan had her own share of wearing best student vest few times few years ago, Jay came home with his vest today! His first time being voted. See how happy was he!! And he looked smart in that vest too. *wink*

Well done, boy! You are good boy and does mummy and daddy proud.

Co-sleep with us

It has been more than a month since Jay moved back to our room and sleep with us. Since the last semester holidays, he sleeps with us and does not want to move back to his own room!

Thought I finally managed to get him sleep on his own but look like after that holiday, he reluctant to go back to his room. Giving me so many excuses not to move back.

So I guess he will stay with us for some period of time. Maybe when Jamie is 3, we will get him and Jay to sleep together in their own room.

Musical fingers

Jay follows his sister to piano class starting this week. We hope that this will encourage him to develop his musical skill.

Well, he seldom show his interest in music. He seldom sing or dance or hum but we thought to let him try out in piano class.

After his 1st class, he was very excited and kept practising on the piano at home.

Well, let's hope his enthusiasm will continue.

Meet the teacher

Met Jay's kindergarden class teacher yesterday in the Parents-Teachers Day.

As expected, the teachers pointed out on his handwriting and understanding. It gave me some times to tell his teacher more on his behaviour etc.

Jay is now more rebellious and does not listen to anyone. He is stubborn. However teachers mentioned that he was lack of confidence and sensitive in school and easily tear; just like the sister during her times.

He has average scores and need more improvement in reading and writing.

Yesterday was also the 1st class of tuition for him and Jan. Sent them both to MEB programme which helps in languages. Jan will go for Chinese programme while Jay is taking all 3 languages. Hope the programmes help both of them and able to prepare Jay well for primary school next year.

Back to school

For Jay! He is in his final year in kindergarden. Going back to the old kindergarden. Am proud of him as he did not cry at all. Now I feel he is a big boy.

The big boy

Have been planning to pen this down but did not get down to it till now. Really a lazy mum. Lol.

My eldest son, Jay has grown up so much this year. Weighing 16kg and stand tall at 104cm, he loves to eat noodles.

He is more independent now, doing things by himself. He still has that cheekiness and playfulness in him but he listens more.

He brushes his own teeth and bathes himself (under minimal supervision, changes himself without my help sometimes. He feeds himself now although I would be expecting messes under the table most of the times.

And did I mentioned that he did not wet his bed for few months now?? Happy he is out of that stage now.

He loves to make himself cute and pretty. Since the dad bought a cowboy hat for him last week, he could not stop wearing it all the times (except going to school).

Talking about school, we got his report card back. Drop in his marks. Oh well, need to teach him more over the school holiday.

He had his graduation concert last Friday night. He performed few dances.

5 years and 3 months old, he can behave when you least expect him to be. Most of the times, he is adorable. Other times? Crawling on your head! Lol.

Cast off

He is a free boy! After a month since the accident on 29/8 and 3 weeks in an arm cast, Jay has his cast removed this morning. He couldn't be more than happy, and so are we.

The doctor used a machine that look like a mini chain saw to cut the outer part of the cast. Then after about 5 minutes in the treatment room, doctor peeled off the cast and washed his right arm. Done!

However Jay need to get used to his bend arm for few days before he can move and straighten it. Been in that bend position for few weeks so it takes time. Hand is dry so I need to put moisturiser on it. Jay needs to do exercise to get the feel of his arm again.
My strong boy

Hope he learns his lesson and be more careful when playing.

Kor kor is 5!

Jay, our 2nd child is 5 years old today! Big boy already. And he is a proud kor kor of Jamie.

Glad both of them develop a good brotherly love and although Jay can be jealous and possessive, we know he cares for Jamie.

Jay is a slow learner, maybe because he is active and playful. He just loves to play and lazy to learn books. But Jay is very intelligent in his own way. He is more of a practical person; see and learn. He is surprisingly good in Maths. He knows how to add and minus from 0 to 30.

We starting to teach him to save money. He has his own made piggy bank at home. Whenever he found coins, he will takes and keeps in his piggy. And some times we give him money for rewards when he is behaving well.

He can be a nuisance because he does not listen to you and have his own attitude. A very stubborn boy. But someday he can be lovey-dovey and ask to be hugged and kissed.
Birthday cake for a family celebration at home

Cupcakes for every friends and teachers in his kinddy

As for his special day, I ordered a spongebob cake as it is currently his favourite cartoon show and cupcakes for sharing with his classmates. His first celebration in school. Last year, we just moved to Sibu and I were heavily pregnant so did not bring anything to school.

Hand-wrapped goodies for the children

The children sang birthday song thrice in three different languages

The happiest boy in the class today is blowing his candles!

What a happy birthday boy! Happy 5th birthday, big kor kor!

Music & Cast

Jan has her Grade 1 piano exam in RH Hotel yesterday afternoon. I brought her there myself. At first she was not nervous but when it was her time, she started to panic a bit. But glad she went into the exam room and did her thing.

I could not see or hear what transcripted in the room but at last she did her best. An British examiner was present to test the candidates one by one.

Slightly more than 10 minutes, Jan was out from the room. Hope she passes her grade 1 then daddy promised to buy her a piano.

Today, after 2 weeks on cast, I brought Jay back to clinic. Supposed to take off his cast today but doctor thought otherwise.

The bone heals well so nothing to worry about. However doctor gave another 1 week for proper healing as worry he will get hurt. A precaution he said. You know, Jay is too active. So, another week of wrapping his cast with plastic bags when shower, another week in sling and another week of helping him in school works. And he would be the birthday boy with an arm cast next week too!

Have a great weekend, guys!

2nd time this week

(Just out from OT and now in the men' ward as I were writing this post)

Jay was admitted again today! His elbow did not healed properly as he did not want to rest his elbow at home. Talking about hyper-active, Jay can be a great example of hyper-active boy.

His elbow bone needed to be re-aligned and this time doctor put cement bandage on him to
prevent the same problem. After more than 20 minutes in the OT, he has his cast done.

This time I were well prepared, ready his drink and food; and some toys to keep him entertained after the operation. The bandage will stay for the next 2 weeks.

It is a bearable stay in hospital this round. Jay must be exhausted that he is sleeping for few hours. And I get to read my novel too while waiting for discharge.

Half day spent in hospital

Jay has a fall last Tuesday when we went to Raya visiting. He hurt his right arm.  He was so in pain that he fall asleep in the car; and when he woke up, he immediately asked to be taken to doctor.  Immediately Big J brought him to x-ray and after all the wailing and crying, the x-ray turned out good.  All bones are in the right position and no broken bones or dislocation.

So he was on the arm support cloth, but on and off he took it off because he disliked it.  Felt like been retained. After few days, he can move his hand and arm.  However on Friday, we noticed that his elbow area swollen and he cannot move the joint.  Even after rubbing some oilment, his swell did not subdued much and he still feel the pain at that area.  So yesterday morning, I decided to bring him to the orthopaedic (bone) specialist.

He was still in his cheeky self and even raise his right arm for me

At first glance the doctor told us the bones look alright but to be more confirmed, he suggested for an elbow x-ray.  The previous one only shown the hand right up to elbow, did not really concentrate on the elbow.  So this time, he was been examined on the elbow.

Ended up one of the elbow bones was dislocated, so it caused swell and pain.  Immediately doctor admitted us to the hospital so he could readjusted his bone without further delay. So we were admitted around 10am and around 1030am, Jay was brought into the operation theatre for the minor adjustment.  Less than 10 minutes, he was done.
Changed into the ward clothing

Waiting time

Time to go in

I was allowed to accompany him inside for a while.  So he has a bit of struggle when he was put to sleep and after that I was to stay outside waiting.  Once done, I was allowed to stay with him till he was awake.  And oh boy, hell broke loose.  He was crying, and kicking; much to my dismay.  But he must be in such agony and pain that he behaved in that way.  So I wheeled him back to his ward to rest but he was restless and inconsolable.  He wanted to change to his own clothes and go home!

After more than 30 minutes, he was calmed down and then he started to feel better.  Probably he knew he would not be going home soon.  So after a while, he rested with the sling wrap on his hand.  But it was not long when he started to be restless and cheeky again.  Playing, walking on bed and making noises in the ward.
We were in the hospital for more than 4 hours and only around 3pm we were discharged.  Waiting for the insurance claim procedures and the hospital allowed to discharge us.

Jay to rest for another day and his elbow would be fine tomorrow.  Then he can go back to his school on Thursday.

Another group photo

So fast, it is another year. And Jay was taking his school's group photo this morning in Sibu Civic Centre. This year I was there to witness the process unlike last year when I were heavily pregnant.

Took an hour to arrange the children. It was a tough job to handle them. The younger ones were restless and as parents were there, they tend to be clingy and did not want to be in the group. I stood near the cameraman so I overheard a conversation of him and another parent. That parent was unhappy as had been waiting for the children to be ready. Well, it was not smooth handling of the packs but glad it was done at the end. After done, each parent was to bring the children to school.

Soon the children will be practising and rehearsing for their year end concert. Time really flies! And my Jay is going to be 5 next month!
