Everyone is down

My sis recently dug out an old photo of her and our brother. They should be around 5 and 4 years old. Remember it was taken in Civic Centre exhibition centre in Kuching.
My sis was commenting that Jan looks like her in the photo and I were telling her that Jay has a bit of my brother's look. So, she took out and compared both pictures. I recently took a photo of both Jan Jay. Do they look like their aunt and uncle? There is a similarity there.

Both had a bout of diarrhea last night. Must be from eating the fried kueh I bought yesterday. First it was Jan which started to complain of stomachache around 7pm. She's been to toilet for few times. Jay has his share of toilet visiting after midnight. Poor boy. Been to toilet 3 times around that time.

As for Jamie, he was not feeling well since Wednesday. Vomitting and diarrhea. What ever he ate, he would vomit. So brought him to see doctor today and prescribed few medicines. Maybe it is a stomach virus.

He  was cranky at night and kept waking up at night. So I hardly had good sleep for the past 2 nights.

Jan and Jay are fine now. Thank god for that but I will never buy any more kueh for them.

Hope Jamie gets well soon. Weekend is around the corner!

School hoo-haa!

Both kids officially started their schools today.  It has been an eventful day yesterday, doing their school registration and accompanied them to class.

Jay went for the morning class session at My Little Precious kindergarden yesterday.  I accompanied him till 1130am while SIL brought Princess to her school.  Turned out that the school did not received any instruction letter from the Sibu education department on her enrolment.  After calling the department out, we discovered that her enrolment for that school was turned down and she was to be transferred to another primary school.

So, in the afternoon, I went to the department personally to meet up with the respective personnel to collect the instruction letter.  I spent almost 2 hours there, waiting for my turn and letter as many applications for transfer of schools out from Sibu.  The personnel insisted on transferring to the other school, instead of my recommended one (SJK Taman Rajang).

This morning, my SIL sent us to Princess' school (SK Penbandaran No 4) for registration.  Princess with her teary eyes and a big hug, she quietly went to her seat in her new classroom.  After that we sent Jay to his kindergarden.  We had a little row with him this morning because he reluctant to wear his new uniform and telling us he did not want to go to school.  We spent almost 30 minutes in his kindergarden.  After paying his school fees, we squeezed our way out from the kindergarden but he was crying and pulling at my pant before teachers caught and brought him away.

So, I had 2 times of emotional stir this morning seeing my kids off to their respective schools this morning. Make me teary twice. Sigh!

The top and school holiday

School holiday has officially started today for 2 weeks.
Finally the kids can relax and mummy and daddy also can breathe a bit.  Sleep late and no morning rush.  And mummy get to sleep longer in the bed.

Baby Jay's kindergarden had Teacher's Day yesterday and he wore casual attire and brought some food and drink to school.  He was jovial because school was over.

Bought some swiss rolls and packet drinks for the Teacher's Day

My princess done well in her class and I am very proud of her that she actually is number one in the class.  I actually learnt from her class teacher when I collected the transfer forms on Wednesday morning.  Met few teachers there and when I told them that we are leaving for Sibu, they were all surprised and commented that Princess did well in class and came top in the exam.  "Very pitiful that she is moving out from school" was their comment.  But only for 2 years,  after that she will be back to the same school, I hope.

As for the transfer forms, never knew I need to fill so many forms and photocopy so many documents.  Need to pass to school headmaster for signature after filling all the forms and collect Princess' report card, and then bring all the forms and photocopied documents to the Education Department for approval.  Then I can send the necessary to my SIL in Sibu for her submission to new school. Phew!

Should have done this stuff early but we only get confirmation from Big J's office this week so I only able to approach the school for forms.  But everything will be fine.  May only able to get everything ready in mid June because currently headmaster was outstation for meeting and only back when school reopens in June.  So I can only get it done by then.

Exam week!!

School exam is starting next week for my Princess, so no more honeymooning time for her.  I have get her to start doing revision on English and Mathematics since both are her strong subjects in school.  I told my Princess that my tip when I were studying for my exams when I were a student is to study your strong subjects first, then slowly go to the difficult one so you can spend more times on those difficult subjects.  And you would not forget those difficult subjects easily too when the exam is getting nearer.  I don't know about you, but those are my tips.  And they worked for me.  *wink*

Today she will start with her Bahasa Malaysia subject revision.  So far I have been guiding her on English and Mathematics and get her to do more tests. And I will guide her with the BM subject since I can read BM.  But the next 3 subjects, Science, Moral and Chinese, would be up to her.  I cannot help her in those 3 subjects.  Luckily this month I send her to Chinese tuition on Saturday so at least she can do some revision during the tuition class.

I am more anxious than my Princess.  She is still so relax and does not bother very much on the revision.  Now she is in primary school, no longer kindergarden.  The exams in kindegarden are very easy and she has no problem in passing them but now the primary school subjects are very difficult. Looking through her textbooks, I feel the Primary One sllyabuses are tougher than those during my school day!

His new diet

Lately our house is smelled of kimchi.  Big J lately has been crazy about kimchi diet.  He knows that eating kimchi is good for health and also can help in weight management.  Big J has been trying to lose some weight but since this year he has been so busy with work that he did not have time to exercise and almost every night come back late from drinking and entertaining.

Tonight he just bought home a pack of kimchi he from Seoul Garden.  The kimchi does smell nice but I do not fancy its taste.

Big J has been taking kimchi for more than a week now.  I remember when we went to Korea few years ago he did not taking much kimchi back then.  But now for health and diet, he has taken a liking for kimchi.  Hope it works for Big J!!

Unwell and unlucky

It was a bad day yesterday.  Big J had a car accident after office hour.  Just bad luck.

Big J has been feeling unwell lately.  Dizziness and tired.  Has been nagging him to go for medical check up and after things happened then he will go for check up.  We suspected he has high blood pressure.  My SIL advise me to make juices from small bitter gourd, green apple and carrots to reduce his high blood pressure.  Will go hunt for small bitter gourds in wet market tomorrow when going to market with my mum.  Not every day we can find people selling small bitter gourds.

So yesterday it happened that baby sitter need to attend a wedding dinner and I requested Big J to pick the kids earlier.  He is supposed to do check up yesterday morning but busy at work.  Since his office is nearer and I could not leave my shop unattended as my staff is having off day.  But Big J suddenly not feeling well and dizzy while driving, and could not in time to brake.  So hit another car from behind.  Luckily no one is hurt.

Lesson learnt!  Never do things last minute and health is always important than work.

Speaking Spanish

At first I thought my Princess is speaking alien languages but after few moments and noticing that she kept repeating the same words, I could not help wonder.

She is currently addicted to Dora the Explorer and I bought few of Dora's DVD for the kids to watch in baby sitter's house.  And my Princess ended up speaking Spanish with me.

Some of the words are Salto (jump), Gracias (thank you), Senor (mister), numbers from 1 to 10.   I am amazed to learn that she knows so many Spanish words.  And she learns from Handy Mandy and Dora.

Kids.  They can learn and master other languages easily.  Hmm, wonder what other languages she would want to learn when she grows bigger?

He comes first

One day, my conversation with my eldest child, Princess:

Princess: Mummy, why you always make milk for '"de-de" (brother) first?
Me: Because he wants to drink milk.
Princess: But I also want to drink milk. You never make milk for me first??
Me: De-de is younger, so I make him milk first.
Princess: Why always him first? I want to be first too.
Me: You know your brother, cannot wait and have no patience. You are big girl, you give to your little brother okay?
Princess: Hmm. (Sighing)
Me: Mummy love you and Baby Jay. You are big sister and big sister should love de-de too. Whoever first is not matter. You will still get your milk.

Now I wonder whether I am right over here? Or maybe I should try different way of approaching her question?

Our reflection

Don't you think that our own children is a little mirror of us, the parents? Why not? We spend most of the times with them, nurture and grow them into an individual of their own and yet along the way, the kids will imitate how and what we do and think.

Like Princess for instance. She is just like me. Big J commented that as she grows older, she is behaving, thinking and talking like me. I also feel that Princess Jan is like me, strong-headed, persuasive and perfectionist. And Baby Jay is more like his daddy, full of sense of humor, cheerful, competitive and strong-headed.

She dreaming of university

Blame of the influence of media. My Princess like me loves to listen to radio. She learns a lot from radio too; i.e. new songs and new words.

So just happen one day this week she suddenly told me from behind me in the car that some day she wants to study e-business diploma! Huh? Oh, one of those universities/colleges advertisement that caught her attention. And I asked her back what she knew about e-business diploma, she said she did not know anything just that she thinks she need to study to work like me! Hmm, when I asked her what she wants to be when she bigger, and like any children, she wants to be a teacher.

So I calmly told her that to be a teacher, you would not need e-business diploma which is not relevant. After been quietly for few seconds, Princess replied me that she does not want to be teacher but been my shop helper. So she can study e-business diploma and help me at the shop. Lol! At least she did not say she is studying degree. Gosh! It is still a long way to go before she is going to college.

Seeing shapes

My Princess told me this morning that yesterday she has her eye check in her school. Oh, good. I remember signing my consent on her getting her vision checking, but do not remember the date. At least she can have her eyes been properly checked since the optical shop I usually went to, does not check on younger kids' eye. They said their machine is for older kids, not for kids under 6. *blur blur*

Anyway, I asked Princess about her result, and does she able to read all those alphabets and numbers. Instead she told me she can see shapes. Square, circle, triangle, etc. huh? First time I heard about having shapes for eye checking. Now I am curious........The school supposed to pass a copy of the result to parents who permitted their children for the screening. So I am waiting for an official result, rather than hearing from my Princess. It is not that I do not believe her, but it does not sound like the usual eye screening chart that we know.

From mummy with love

My princess simply love cheese and nuggets. In the evening, she will tell me what her snack menu would be for the following day. So as usual she will demand nuggets. To add more favour to her snack, I include some broccoli as well. Mind you, no stalks she said for her broccoli.

So her hardworking mummy woke up very early this morning to prepare her snack box. Cheese sandwich, nuggets and broccoli for her. I am not usually that early bird to prepare her food but occasionally would be fine. Since it will be a long day as she has her dancing class and will only finishes class at 1pm on every Friday, I want to make sure she will not go hungry fast. She even had few bites of nuggets this morning after finished her milk. Lol!

As for myself, I have some french toasts with the leftover bread. Simple but yummy! Sitting in front of tv, watching one of my favourite series, CSI. Long time did not have own cooked breakfast at home. Lol!

Paint my face

One day a conversation with my princess:

Princess: Mummy, you every morning paint your face. So "mei mei" (beautiful).
Me: Thank you. That is call "make up" not "paint"
Princess: Oh, make up. Can I make up too?
Me: Wait till you are bigger, okay?
Princess: Okay. Mummy, you buy the make up for me next time okay?
Me: (roll eyes)

What is right for the kids?

I guess when it comes to making decision for the children, it is never right or wrong.

Big J has been nagging about sending Princess back to hometown while I am away this weekend for 2 weeks. School holiday will be over soon and school is reopening next week. He has been nagging of sending her back to be with the grandparents for the whole 2 weeks. And of course it sounds like I am selfish or heartless of not sending my Princess home. She needs to attend school. It may be pre-school but I would want to instill discipline into her at young age.

After much debate, finally Big J gave in. Princess will be attending her school in the morning and baby sitter bring her back and look after her till her daddy comes to pick her after work. As for Baby Jay he will be staying overnight at Baby sitter's house. Only twice a week Big J will bring him home. Baby at his age recognises place and people well. Just recently after our Korea trip for a week, he was making noises and crying for 2 nights. So hopefully after 2 weeks, he would still recognise his mummy. Lol!

I am very like it!

One of Princess Jan's speech errors that I find irritating. "I very like it, mummy", "I am very love you" etc. I know she is trying to say "I like it very much" or "I love you very much", but after I corrected her twice, she still cannot get rid of this grammar quirk.

I know that she is just a little kid and learning is a long journey for her. But a good start is the best. I would like her to use the correct grammar and pick up correctly.

I get touchy as she is full of hands!

Do you have a toddler that her hands cannot keep to herself all the times?? Touching this and that?? Doesn’t mind the dirt and mud on her hands or even all over her. Gosh! Sometimes I could feel that she is testing my patience and perseverance. I just couldn’t believe that I could control myself from not scolding or raising my voice at my Little J.

Lately she has been on a slight rebellious side; doesn’t listen to reasoning and warning. She knows that it is wrong, but still she is doing it all over again. Like when we go out, she would suddenly knee down and touch the floor. She knows that she is not suppose to do that as I explained that she will get sick from doing it if did not wash her hand, but few minutes later, she will do it again. Hmm, how to control from not scolding her?? And how to discipline her??

Why, why, tell me why

Sometimes I wish I could make her stop asking me questions. It irritates and make me blow my top. And sometimes I felt sorry for losing my cool on her.

I must control my temper or I couldn't possibly be a good mum (cum teacher) to my 3 years old Little J. She has been very persuasive in asking questions that she can repeats the same question a "hundred" times that you think you go nut. Why "this" and why "that". Everything she must ask why. I understand that she is at the age of curiousity, she tends to ask a lot of "why" questions. But sometimes she is just teasing or testing my patience. Like when I asked her to sit down on the sofa instead of jumping around, she asked me "Why, mummy?" Even after we give our explanation, she will still ask the same question. Even my SIL complains that she is behaving like like "old lady", very "lo so" (long winded).

There was a time when she bluntly ask my dad's employee "Why you don't have hair?" Ooopps! The male employee is bald. I don't know how he feels, but as a mother, I am embarrassed by Little J's bluntness. Got to teach her some manners.

Superhero

After many days of bragging about being a princess, Little J has finally bored of playing one. Her newly brought tiara was kept away, and now she has new interest in hand.

Being a superhero. Just last night, she came to me and suddenly out of nothing, she told me she wanted to be a superhero. Huh? Superhero? Now, where did she learn such word? When asked her what type of superhero would she wants to be, she told me a flying superhero and start to take out her blanket to turn it into a sash! *Faint* I am speechless for a while, but after regain myself, I told her the blanket would be too big and heavy to turn into a sash.

Well, after a good night sleep, she forgot all about the superhero thinggy. My SIL told me probably she learnt it from cartoon "Pocoyo". She saw one series where Pocoyo was pretending to be a superhero wearing blue sash over his shoulder. Oh well! It is time to screen over some selection of cartoons for Little J!

Who is the mother here?

Sometimes my 3 years old girl can act like a mother than me. She will order or nag me and Big J to do this and that. She is getting to be more busybody, smarter and cheeky nowadays. Which means we are arguing more every day! Lol!

For example:

Scene 1
Little J: Daddy, you are smelly!
Big J: I just back from the office dear.
Little J: Go and take bath!
Big J: Late, honey pie.
Little J: No! Go and take bath now!!

Scene 2
Me: That is how you fold your clothing, Little J.
Little J: No, no, no. It is like this, mother.
Me: *Faint* (better do it myself, she is just messing around!)

Scene 3

In the car,
Little J: Mummy, why you use this way to go home?
Me: Short cut. Faster.
Little J: Short cut?
Me: Yes
Little J: But mummy, you should use that way to go home.

But once a while, this little adult is still a kid at heart and needs attention, assurance and loves. Like last night, she made her mummy and daddy angry. Mummy and daddy stormed up to the bedroom, leaving her with her aunty in the living room, watching television. She suddenly came to her aunt and ask her aunt "Do you love me, gu gu?" *My heart goes for her* She can be a nuisance sometimes, but we still love her.

Today when picked her from school, in the car she told me she was crying in her class. When asked what is the problem, one of her classmate (a girl) hit her. She is a lion at home, but in school, she is a timid mouse. But kids are kids. They grow up through all those hardship and stages, right?

Bad customer services

I told you that Big J just started his new business this month, right? Everything more or less into the office except for the telephone line. He has still not get his telephone line for his office. And how frustrating he is with the Telekom technician!

Firstly, the technician said he cant find Big J’s office. What an excuse! His office is so easy to find, that you can practically close your eyes and drive into in.

Secondly, the technician said he only know where is the car fixing shop, but couldn’t see Big J’s office. And when Big J replied him that his office is just behind the car fixing shop, the technician hung up on him! How rude!!!

Thirdly, Big J is definitely going to Telekom branch to make complain about the services and telephone lines on Monday as it has been over 2 weeks and nothing has been done yet!!

Talking about customer services and quality!
